Many students at colleges and universities are forgoing traditional spring break vacations to participate in service opportunities in other parts of the world and country. To support volunteerism in New York City, Refuge House offers housing to community groups and colleges that wish to volunteer in community services offered in New York City.
Groups stay on a designated floor in the building that has bedrooms, bathrooms and a full working kitchen. Generally, groups participate in their community service projects during the day and return to our space in the evening to sleep, meet, and have meals.
Groups that are interested in making a reservation for space can complete the reservation form available online and fax it to (718) 563-7304. There is a fee to stay at Refuge House that may vary on space, time of year, the size of the group, and the duration of the stay. Groups will be contacted once the initial form is submitted to discuss details.
