After School Tutoring Program
Fordham Bedford Community Services administers two tutoring programs that provide academic support to children in grades 2-6. Programs are offered at both the Refuge House and New Walton locations.  Tutoring is offered Monday through Thursday from 3-5:30pm.

These programs are designed to enhance students learning capabilities and assist them in their weakest subject areas. In addition, students engage in daily activities including: computer classes, sports and recreation, literacy, and art projects.

Students in this program are also encouraged to participate in the monthly weekend project, “Read to Me”.  This initiative is run in conjunction with New York Cares, and encourages students to explore their local libraries and take advantage of their public resources.  During this project, students listen to stories read aloud, practice reading with a partner, and borrow books they can read independently.  Additionally, students engage in activities such as quizzes, games and art projects.  This project is also offered at both the New Walton and Refuge House locations.
